A Great Book by Matt Bronleewe!
By Vicky Beeching on Jan 25, 2008 in Uncategorized

Hey friends! Hows your week been? Glad it’s Friday?
I had an awesome day today, the highlight of which was a brilliant songwriting session with a new friend Matt Bronleewe. He’s an awesome producer and also an incredible author… If you are in need of a gripping book with a historical twist, check out "Illuminated". I have only read the first two chapters but am already hooked!! You can buy it from www.mattbronleewe.com or any good bookstore… I know what I’ll be doing in my spare time this weekend… yep, finishing "Illuminated"!
The book is about a rare Bible, and the adventures of people desperately wanting to get their hands on it. It got me thinking about how many Bibles I have on my shelf… In some parts of the world the Bible is illegal or banned… Some people in Asia long to see a copy of the Word but are unable to… I want to stop taking for granted the fact that I own Bibles, and make sure I that read them and use them and remember their great worth. Who knows, someday even we in ’safe’ countries like the USA and Europe might find ourselves under religious persecution, and will wish we had memorized more Scripture while we had Bibles in our hands…. Any thoughts on that? Do you think we will live to see persecution hit our nation and generation??..Might seem like an odd thought, but I"m keen to hear your opinions on it!
Vicky
P.s. thanks for the interested comments on the Bono entry yesterday.. I’m loving this Blog community!!

Hey there, Vicky Beeching!
Email me at emilyw@wcs.edu or the other email address that I typed in above. I just found this site- looks fun! Haven’t seen you randomly since that “what am i doing here?” chicken place moment, and was thinking about you- maybe we could graduate to a “non-random” hang out session soon… there’s so much good conversation to be had in life!
Love,

Hi Vicki,
First of all, we’re just rounding the last hour of our morning show, and you’ve already finished a writing session and blogged about it? Man! And I thought WE were productive before sunrise. Secondly, love the post on Illuminated; I’ll buy a copy and start reading soon, and maybe recommend it for Carmen’s Book Club. Glad I discovered your blog. Now have a bowl of grits and get back to work.

And hey, here’s the thing you REALLY want to learn to do — leave a reply as a guest, and misspell the host’s name. Now THAT kind of talent is hard to find.
How ’bout some egg with those grits, Vicky with a -y?

I just found this site — got your CDs last month and have really enjoyed them (and gave one to a couple friends for Christmas - ha!)
Ted Dekker posted a blog, mentioning the possibility of Christians in the US facing persecution at some point. I tend to think we will see it hit our nation at some point, some time in my life time. But I’ll have to wait through the years to find out!
I have memorized several passages, but it’s amazing how quickly you forget them if you don’t rehearse them in your mind all the time. I definitely need a refresher, and it would be good to engrave more of God’s Word into my heart and mind.

I think we are definately entering a day where christians are being persecuted in developed contries more and more. it wont matter if it comes from the white house, or your neighbor, or your neighbor in the white house. I’m starting to see it more and more everyday. it’s terrifying in no uncertain terms.
I was once called an abomination for believing in a God bigger than the box they put Him in and the words they confined Him to.
I think that persecution is very real and ever present in our society.

Amen!
Luke 12:39-42 tells us, “And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and HEARD HIS WORD…but one thing is needful: and Mary hath choosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”
Jesus clearly tells us in the above passage that the one needful thing is hearing His Words which we have complete access to 24/7 here in America! How often am I taking advantage of reading the Bible? To whom much is given Jesus says much will be required. In America we have been given much in terms of access to God’s Word. What will my response be when Jesus asks one day, “how often did you participate in the one needful thing that I called you to- learning My Word?”
I fear if we do not return back to the Word of God as a nation we will be in much danger of losing the blessings of God in terms of religious freedom. I heard a visiting missionary from the underground church in China say they pray often for persecution in America as they feel it would light a fire for the Word of God within us and seperate the true Christians from the lukewarm.
Hmm…dont know if I would pray for persecution, but do pray that we would return to the Word of GOD and fully understand its value
