Deep Thoughts While In The Hair Salon!

Hair2

The weekend has arrived! Hope you guys have some fun plans for Saturday and Sunday?

So today I went to the hair salon and got my hair coloured…I always get a bit nervous when I’m sitting there with all the highlight foils on my head, hoping it won’t turn out orange or green! Thankfully it looks just like I’d hoped, so all is well!

Sitting there in the salon chair I had some time to think… One of the theological questions I’ve been pondering recently is the issue of women in ministry – because I am one! Paul has a few interesting passages in Timothy and Corinthians (1 Cor 14:34, 1 Tim 2:11-15) about women remaining silent in church… I studied those texts during my time in Oxford and came away confident that it is OK for us girls to preach, lead and minister in churches… But I know the texts are hard to interpret and understand…

What do you think about what Paul wrote? Do you think women should be allowed to preach and lead, or do you think not? (I love controversial discussions and will not be at all offended whatever you believe!)

But seriously, I desire to be someone who really looks at the Scriptures and figures out what GOD is saying, not just taking what ‘everyone else thinks’ as truth. I’m inspired by what was said of the christians in a town called Berea in the New Testament:

“Now the Berean believers
were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they EXAMINED the Scriptures every day
to see if what Paul said was true” (Acts 17:11)

On every topic in life, may we be people who “examine the Scriptures” to see what they say. Let’s not be afraid to ask God the big, scary questions about what is and isnt true…and let’s not just ‘go with the flow’ just because its ‘what everyone believes’..

Our generation can see straight through fakeness and rehearsed Sunday school answers. We need to be well thought through theologians of God’s word -to examine what it says and believe the answers so deeply that we would stake our lives on it.

Thoughts??   : )

A Great Book by Matt Bronleewe!

Review_book

Hey friends! Hows your week been? Glad it’s Friday?

I had an awesome day today, the highlight of which was a brilliant songwriting session with a new friend Matt Bronleewe. He’s an awesome producer and also an incredible author… If you are in need of a gripping book with a historical twist, check out "Illuminated". I have only read the first two chapters but am already hooked!! You can buy it from www.mattbronleewe.com or any good bookstore… I know what I’ll be doing in my spare time this weekend… yep, finishing "Illuminated"!

The book is about a rare Bible, and the adventures of people desperately wanting to get their hands on it. It got me thinking about how many Bibles I have on my shelf… In some parts of the world the Bible is illegal or banned… Some people in Asia long to see a copy of the Word but are unable to… I want to stop taking for granted the fact that I own Bibles, and make sure I that read them and use them and remember their great worth. Who knows, someday even we in ‘safe’ countries like the USA and Europe might find ourselves under religious persecution, and will wish we had memorized more Scripture while we had Bibles in our hands….  Any thoughts on that? Do you think we will live to see persecution hit our nation and generation??..Might seem like an odd thought, but I"m keen to hear your opinions on it!

Unbelievable 3D Experience!

So tonight I went to see "U2 3D", the U2 concert now showing in movie theatres in 3D… Yes I wore the weird yellow 3D glasses….here they are!

Photo_4

Wearing them looked pretty dumb but I promise you -they totally make it feel like you are there in the front row watching Bono, the
Edge, Larry and Adam playing in a stadium of thousands…wow!

I would totally recommend it.. I came away so inspired by the way music can touch and unite people so powerfully…Its going to inspire my songwriting a ton this week : ) The only bad part of the movie experience was that I ate a whole box of chocolate chip cookie dough bites… hmm…the diet resumes tomoro ; )

Seriously though, I had a rather disturbing moment in the movie when Bono’s "co-exist" logo flashed on the screen and he said that Christians, Jews, Muslims, were all the sons of Abraham and that we need to be one…Like religion is to blame for bloodshed and war, and that to say ‘Jesus is the only way’ is to be divisive.. Thats how it came across to me anyways… There’s something very dark about that… Any thoughts people? Share below!

Love to ya!
