Hey!

Hope your week is going well. I’ve had a great week so far… started it Sunday night at Pasadena Calvary Chapel, up near LA. Took a brilliant team of musicians up there with me:

(From left to right: Beejay Backlawski (backing vocals), Justin Glasco (drums), me, Scott Murray (electric guitar), Aaron Meroniuk (keyboards) and Jon Murray (bass). Fun times!

Here’s some more shots from the night. Thanks to Jon Duran for his camera skills! I played with the shots in Photoshop so any weird editing is my fault and not Jon’s! I’m still trying to figure out photo editing!

Yesterday I filmed a show at TBN Studios for their young adult channel JCTV. Photos from that to follow soon.

Question for you… I want to start posting short teaching video blog on here… Time to dust off my Oxford Theology Degree and dive deeper into conversation with you all on here…You guys are so smart and have so much to share that I want to step up the content here. I’ll always post fun videos and photos too, but my desire for 2009 is to go a few notches deeper and start really pursuing God together on here.

So… what would you like me to teach on in these short 5 minute teaching vid-blogs? think it over as you look through the rest of the photos, then shoot me a comment below and let me know what topics would be interesting to you!

Keep seeking Him!

Vicky

Who Knew Animals Could Skype??!

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

picture-1

Hey there!

This is a screen shot I took during a Skype call today. My friend put her dog on the screen so I could say hello to her… She is possibly the coolest and cutest dog ever. As you can see from my smile, it totally made my day :-)

You guys into Skype? What’s the best Skype conversation you’ve had recently?

From The Vault…

Hey guys!

Found this old interview….reminds me of the days when I didn’t have two-colored hair! It’s a little video piece I did with “OneCubedTV” in Nashville, telling the story of my song Above All Else.

I’m changing guitar strings here…. playing a concert tomorrow night…. I wonder if someone might invent the “string-less guitar” one day, so that we don’t have to change strings anymore! You keyboard players out there have it easy…haha… (no you don’t really..I know guitars are MUCH easier to transport than keyboards!).

Made Me Laugh…

Monday, February 16th, 2009

Hey there…. I’m spring cleaning my apartment. Haven’t been online much today, but just went on and saw this.

Made me smile…. hope you do too : )

Are you guys into Facebook, Myspace, Linked-In, etc? I’m writing an article about Social Networking and its place within the ‘world of worship’ soon, so feel free to comment with your thoughts and input on that subject!

Also, thanks to Jonathan Paul, I now have a new plug-in for my ‘comments’ section called “Disqus”…very techical and way over my head, but he is very smart and knows how to do all that stuff! Anyway, the cool news is that video commenting will now be possible… so you can leave a written or (if you are really brave!) a video comment….come on, you know you want to : )

Vicky on TBN’s “JC-TV”

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

Hi all!

I had the pleasure of playing a song on TBN’s youth channel “JC-TV” recently. I think it aired a couple weeks ago.

Someone uploaded a version of it to Youtube..so check it out. This is one of my new songs, for the soon-to-be-recorded album! I think you’ll all have heard it already on my Myspace and on one of my blogs here… but if it’s new to you, hope it blesses you today.

Talk soon,

Vicky

More Songwriting Photos…

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

Hey friends!

Greetings….I’m still not better…wow this pain takes a while to subside (not to scare anyone else who needs their wisom teeth out though! I’m sure you’ll do better than me!)

Going through some photos here in bed while I rest up… Some more shots of me writing on Melody/Keith’s piano….. Here is Simon Cowell watching over my writing, telling me if it’s good or terrible! (Brits are so mean!)

And this is me catching a beautiful Kansas City-Missouri sunset, taking a break from writing and getting inspired by nature’s beauty!

I also saw that my new Gretsch White Falcon seems to be inspiring Phil Wickham. I loaned it to Producer Pete Kipley while I’m out of action getting better, and it seems to be making it onto Phil’s latest project, which is fun. Check out his Blog here. Pete says it has great tone when it’s recorded, which is encouraging…I’m glad I bought a good one!

Question for you…. All this time in bed recoverying is giving me time to think, dream and explore new ideas for this Blog…And as you guys are the most important people – the community who read it! – I want you to speak into this…

“What are your most favorite elements about my Blog? And what would you like to see on here as future content?”

Time for some more soup & ibuprofen!…

The Wisdom Teeth Video Journal!….

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

Greetings!

Thanks for all the kind words, twitters, comments and prayers as I made it through my wisdom teeth removal! I promised that I’d shoot some video…. so here it is :-)   Sorry if some moments are a bit gross… and I hope you get a smile out of seeing me still rather groggy after the anaesthetic!

Love,

Vicky

The Wisdom Teeth Adventure….

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

Hey friends,

Here is a photo I just snapped using PhotoBooth… for some reason my cheeks look like a cross betweem a chipmunk and a garden gnome as they are swollen and very pink! Oh well… all part of the recovery process I guess… Not a flattering shot, but I want to let you see what really goes on in my life, so I guess this is just transparency!

The oral surgeon was so kind yesterday. I brought them one of my CDs as a gift, and to my suprise they put it on their PA syste, throughout the whole surgery. So I fell asleep under the general anaethetic to the sounds of Painting The Invisible! I know the surgery was about 40 mins as I faded out on Great Is The Glory, and came back round on Twenty Six summers!

Vicodin painkiller didn’t seem to like me as I got really naseous and dizzy. So I’m trying to make it through just with Ibuprofen and the antibiotics.

I did take some video yesterday (although NOT of the actual surgery of course!…Grossness!) so I’ll upload that when I’m feeling more ‘with it’

Prayer for speedy recovery appreciated!

“What new iPhone apps are you loving? I’m sitting here playing with my iPhone in need of some cool new Apps! Also, when you guys are sick or on bed rest, what are your favorite ways to pass the time?”

Vicky

Songwriting Retreat on Keith Green’s Piano…

Friday, February 6th, 2009

Photo edited

Hi friends,

I had a great time working on songs in Kansas City the past week. Here is a photo of me working on new material, and just having a great time worshiping! I can’t wait for you to hear these new tunes :-)

A big thank you to me dear friend Melody Green for letting me use her songwriting studio, and play Keith Green’s old piano (in the photo above). It’s certainly an inspiring place to write!

Check out Melody’s new website here and if you don’t already have the newly updated version of her book “No Compromise”, go get the latest edition as it has brand new photos, stories and material!

I’m loving my new songs and really looking forward to getting stuck into recording them soon. You’ve already heard a few snippets on Myspace…. One is called “Breath of God” based on Ezekiel 37 about the valley of dry bones…. And another one that we have put on Myspace a few times is “Refuge” based on Isaiah 43 (when you walk through the waters, when you walk through the fire…etc). I want to combine really Biblical lyrics with great melody and music.. I love His Word and having studied all those years at Oxford I long to see people fall in love with the Bible…. setting it to great music seems to be the best way for that to happen to our iPod carrying, MTV generation!

I also just got ProTools LE and am trying to learn how to do better guitar/vocal demos. I bought “ProTools For Dummies” at Barnes and Noble… I think that book will be $20 well spent!

More photos and updates from songwriting to come soon…

For all you songwriters reading this, or anyone creative,

“what do you do to inspire you in your writing? (or whatever your creative craft is)… Do you find certain things really help you get inspired?”

Love,

Vicky
