A New Guitar!

The morning I flew back to the States, I got a new guitar! My friend Dan Boreham works for Fender UK/Europe, so he helped me get a great deal on this Tele Deluxe. This picture was me, up for an early morning flight at Heathrow, and excitedly greeting my new Tele!

I’ve been playing it today and love it. The two humbuckers give it a great full sound. I still love my White Falcon but this is going to be much easier to travel with as it’s smaller and lighter! So sometimes the Falcon will just have to be ok with staying home!

    I've got a Gibson Songwriter Deluxe, got it in upstate NY on a visit a few years ago, and it'll be the last acoustic I ever buy… well, you know what I mean.

    As for electrics… tobacco sunburst PRS SE with a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe amp; next amp I get will be a Fishman acoustic amp – they're fantastic.

    Nice to finally see a Fender in your hands! I don't think I've ever seen you with a Fender. I've seen you with a Danelectro U2, Gibson Les Paul, and various Gretschs…but never a Fender… Hope you like it! As for me I play an old American Tele that I constantly tinker with vintage parts and such that I run through a good dose of effects into an English made Vox AC-30 TBX.

    LOVE your new Tele. I've been eyeing that model for months now but can't currently justify the purchase.

    My main guitars are a Breedlove acoustic and a Guild Bluesbird electric which I play through my Blackheart Little Giant head and Egnater cab. I added an LR Baggs Acoustic T-Bridge to the Guild a few years back and it's a super versatile guitar when I'm just playing with a 3 piece. I still have my first guitar as well, a Martin D-15, some other guitars, a banjo and mandolin, but they don't get much use.

    Question back for you Vicky. What's your pedal board look like? I'm always looking for new ideas and pedals to sweeten up my tone.

    My main two guitars I play are a '96 Taylor 410 that I dropped a LR Baggs I-Beam pickup in(sounds amazing), and a Gibson SG. Most recent piece of new gear is a Fulltone Fulldrive. With just a little roll of the volume pedal, you can take a sweet creamy clean into a fully saturated beast! If needed, I hit a little tube screamer on top of that.

    I am happy tele plays great tones as it looks great! for gear Ibanez bass guitar, zoom effect pedal and peavey amp. Want to learn how to play electronic guitar in the future.

    Hey Vicky, you've just got thet guitar that I've been dreamming for the last year… rsrs
    I play stratocaster model made by a brasilian brand, it's not even close like a fender, but it's working well for the church. My pedal are the Crybaby GB-85, Boss OD-20 and a DD3, and for the amp I use the church's Marshall VS-100. Also a Yamaha APX-5 and a roland JV-90…

    Hey Vicky Sweet tele, it looks amazing!

    my own gear starts with a taylor 314ce amazing tone there, I also mainly use a John Mayer edition Strat and a Gretsch Electromatic. I play them through a Vox Ac-15 amp with Line 6 pedals. I'd love to get my hands on a tele they are simply the heart of Rock. I eagerly wait for a Springsteen editions telecaster. its amazing the diversity within the different guitars out there and even the variations within the different models out there. Guitars truly have endless possibilities to channel our creativity. hope you enjoy your tele gotta love the maple neck

    I used to play the saxophone in junior high and high school. I tried the piano a while, too. My nephew is the guitar player in the family. Looks like a good quality instrument you have there, Vicky. May God use your talents well with it! God bless!

    my main acoustics are from breedlove, takamine, ovation and alvarez (12str)

    my main electric is a gibson sg. one of these days i'll buy something else, but the sg fits the bill 99% of the time so why bother? i'm not a metalhead but i do like the ESP george lynch signature edition – looks like a relic'd strat. great guitar!

    i got rid of most of my stomp boxes and use a line6 pod x3 live. if you spend the time to learn it it's amazing. it's all lincoln brewster uses live and in the studio – doesn't even run it in front of an amp. steep learning curve, however.

    most of the time i run the x3 live in front of a marshall jcm900 and a marshall 4×12 cab.

    i play the bass too – fender american deluxe jazz V and an old yamaha with unbelievably hot pickups. i use the x3 live for bass as well.

    next on my list:
    -combo amp, hopefully a goodsell – check them out. amazing.
    -phil jones suitcase bass amp OR an aguilar 1×12 combo – gotta buy used, they are discontinued :(

    nice tele, I can honestly say I've never played one before, but I'd like to. as far as gear goes, my epi explorer is usually how I roll! if 'm playing metal its got that incredible action and for corporate worship settings its got a sweet tone. so smooth, I lubb it! :D

    I have several pieces of gear my favorites are…

    My Gibson SG Special Faded (love this guitar) strung with D'Addario 11-49's plucked with Dunlop Gator Grip .96 guitar picks it's run through a simple Crate 15w practice amp at home. or the sound system at church if it's for our worship team.
    Boss DD-20 Giga Delay pedal
    Fender Grand Concert Acoustic strung with Elixir Polyweb 12-53's and plucked with Clayton Acetal .63 guitar picks
    Fender Mustang Bass (Short Scale so the same length as an electric guitar neck) Strung with Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinkys 45-105's I run that through a Ampeg BA-115 100w combo amp which I love.

    What kind of Strings and picks do you use for your acoustic and electric guitars Vicky? I've always been curious to know. Congratulations on your Telecaster, another great guitar. God Bless you Vicky as you continue to doing the Good Work which has been set before you! I love what He is doing through you!

    I know this blog is old but iwanted to chime in

    I have a modded schecter tempest w/ dimarzios in it, GREAT almost les paul sound. My main sqeeze…. i also have a Fender Road Worn 50's strat with dimarzios in it too, the virtual vintage

    Have a Rcm RM-3 wah, bb preamp, wampler cranked ac, boss blues driver, diamond compressor,ernie ball volume, Boss dd20.

    Runnin in a peavey valveking head and 5150 cab, along with a orange rockerverb. however since i got the orange its been in the shop with a strange problem…. going on a month and a half now.

    Always use Dean markleys and dunlop tortex 1.0mm picks.

    I think you made a perfect selection for your replacement guitar. I have played one like it and had to force myself to set it down. Skinny body, fat sound, sleek feel, killer tone. Oh yeah, hope you continue to love it.
