Hey friends!

Hows your week going? Thanks for all the good feedback about the videos I posted.. my iMovie skills will continue to develop and grow, and I’m excited to document more ‘life on the road’ footage!

Today was an exciting day – it might not mean much to anyone except fellow tech-geeks out there (!!) but today my Blog was re-installed to http://vickybeeching.com rather than http://vickybeeching.com/blog/wordpress. Hooray!

If you wouldn’t mind, if you link to me on your Blogroll or website, please erase any old links like http://vickybeeching.com/blog/wordpress or http://vickybeeching.typepad.com and make the link exactly this…

http://vickybeeching.com

Thanks so much! it makes a real difference in enabling people to find my site, and for stats and ratings etc… Muchas Gracias!!

Ok, so I know I’ve thanked him before but you need to know that the guy who designed my new site also worked hard today from across the globe in China, to re-install it to the new address. His name is BIscuet (just a nickname – his real name is Jonathan…he said he mispelled “biscuit” in a spelling bee when he was a kid…mispelling it as “biscuet” so the nickname has stuck ever since!)

You can get to know him a bit in the 2 videos above… Check out his site too: http://www.biscuet.com Thankyou SO much Biscuet for all your help with this site! Thank you also to A J Rhodes, who works in the IT department at my record label EMI. AJ, we couldn’t have done this site without you!

Well, I’ve had a great week..was just downloading photos from my camera and thought I’d share a few with you from my recent adventures:

Buffalo, NY

My re-built pedal board…

YC Alberta, Canada…

YC Canada…

This weekend, I’m headed to a festival called “J-Fest” in Chattanooga… should be a great time. I was on iChat with my friend Steve Fee earlier, and he said his band Fee will be playing there too… So is Matthew West and a bunch of others. Looking forward to using my newly set up pedal board there and having a good time!

Ok… gotta go write some more songs!

Question for you – Earlier I was chatting with new friend Daley (check out his blog @ http://www.daleyhake.com/blog) We both agreed we are total geeks! So “Are you a self-confessed Geek?” I totally am… guitar pedals, amps, Mac laptop, iPhone, Twitter, Blogging… loving learning iMovie and learning all about Web Hosting and WordPress… “Are you?” If so, tell me about it!

love,

Vicky

Since you re-installed your blog, you might want to update the RSS subscription link. Right now, it points to the old address (vickybeeching.com/wordpress). Anyone who tries to subscribe will get the wrong feed! :)

Oh, to answer your question, I am definitely a geek. I’m in college and studying computer science. I program games as a hobby and, unfortunately, I’m very close to idolatry in terms of my laptop and internet. It distracts me a lot from Scripture and quality time with the Father. :(

But yes. I am a geek! Haha.

For some reason when I saw that last picture it reminded me of something. I realized quickly what it was…there’s a very similar picture of Misty Edwards, someone who I’m sure you, Vicky, are pretty familiar with. You’ve probably seen the picture before…

I admit, it’s not that similar, but for some reason that’s all I could think of.

And by the way, I like the new look of the site!

I’m pretty sure we talked about this a while back on your other blog. and to answer, I would say I’m more of a nerd, I think I’m the only female in my state over the age of 13 that plays video games and is actually good at it. also I think I set the record for most blog accounts ever, I’m on blogger, lifewithchrist, livejournal, wordpress, myspace, and thats not even half.

Haha, im not completly nerdy when it comes to computers but anything sound such as pedals guitars cables mixers lighting etc i spend hours online researching. Love it! I was def trying to get a good glimpse of your pedal board at yc but didnt get to good of one so the pic was helpful!
    Be blessed!

    Geek!
    Absolutely!

I’m a political scientist with a worship passion. My hubby and I joke about our geekiness, when you’re cracking a galaxy joke and you only hear us laughing and maybe another person, you know how geeky we are.

Or when people talk about what book they’re reading and I’m reading instuction manuals and my hubby either computer stuff or theology.. you know how geeky we are.

The pastor of the church we’re attending is also very geeky, it’s made for tons of joke material.. we’re definetely not in the “cool kids” group. Coming to accept it and love the way we are built has been one of the biggest freedoms I’ve ever experienced!

Your pedal board looks like fun :)

Well I have to say I think I am a geek however it’s a read lots of books, love maths, english. sciences, history type of Geek. (Although I’m not too bad at computers and stuff!) I was also the only person in my year group to take triple language for my GCSEs the most you could take at my school.

Glad you had a good day. The weather here was sunny today a real contrast to yesterdays, typical-english thunderstorms and rain all day! I went shopping in Oxford. Was good fun spending my Dads money!

With Love all the way from England!

    Yup, Geek here *raises hand*
    I’m into:
    - photography (for those who care, my link is below, just click my name)
    - music (although not that much as some people here, hehe)
    - wikipedia (you gotta love the useless trivia)
    - video/photo editing (wish i had a mac)

I think I’ll stop at this point, no honor in appointing yourself as topgeek on this blog :D

Cool all those pedals, I would get lost, panic and would try to find the brake…

By the way I love your song “Above all else”. It’s really growing on me and I catch myself humming it every time. And when I pass a piano I have to play it before I move on :D

Quite a busy weekend for me, just did a lecture in my church about prayer and tomorrow will give a guest lecture on alternative worship at my old uni.

Enjoy yours Vicks, and everyone who reads/comments here! :)

I’m not a geek, but I do enjoy geeky things.

  11. Welmoed May 30, 2008 at 04:55 #

    A geek for sure!

I love to read, learn foreign languages, parchment craft, listen to music (my radio/cd player isn’t silent very often:-) and lots of other things I love to do/see.

Wish I had the talent to play an instrument! I tried a few but it didn’t work out the way I wanted to…

    Cheers!

you are hilarious. Thanks for all the great compliments. I can’t believe you posted my videos. That is so funny. Things at the orphanage are amazing. You would love it!! I’ll be figuring out a way to get you to China.

  13. Martin May 31, 2008 at 16:21 #

@Biscuet: could you perhaps fix the RSS feed? :D
btw. love the way your students talk ;)

I’m a pretty big geek, but it doesn’t always show. Hiking with a friend yesterday, I’d brought along a hiking GPS (pretty geeky) but I didn’t know how to use it (not very geeky, especially given that I’d gotten it a three years ago for a backpacking trip to Europe). The excuse I gave my friend is that I have geekish tendencies, but I have so many other interests, it keeps me from total and utter geekdom.
