Hello there Blog friends!

Greetings from England! I had an amazing flight – slept all 7 hours from Chicago to London Heathrow. The woman next to me couldnt believe that I managed it…but I did come VERY prepared with Tylenol PM tablets, deluxe furry eye-mask, ear plugs and a neck pillow…. Landed in Heathrow and after lunch with my parents we drove to their house and I spent the past 2 days with them and my wider family drinking lots of tea and having a great time!

This photo was taken the day I arrived and is proof that I AM still working on my lack of domestic skills….even my 4 year old niece was able to give me some cooking tips with her mini-kids-stove!!! I will be a great house-wife someday…until then I’ll just focus on playing my electric guitars : )

Tomorow I start leading worship at a conference in England…pray for God’s presence, and for energy as its 5 or 6 days long. I’m excited abut it!

My question from here across the Pond, inspired by all the European food around here!:

"If you had to choose your very favorite three course meal, what would it be? Appetizer, Entre, Dessert…. Share below and then I’ll share mine!

gotta love those little kiddie stoves and the imagination of kids when they play. Now to the question:
Appetizer- cocktail shrimp
Entree- Shrimp casserole
Dessert- apple pie

now i wouldnt say that they go well together in a single meal. thats a bit too much shrimp and apple pie doesnt really go. but separately those are my favorite. :)

Hmmm…. that’s tough. I’m kinda a simple person when it comes to food. I can’t even remember the last time I had a 3 course meal.

I’d say though, appetizer, you can’t go wrong with some great chips and salsa. Entre would be terriyaki chicken (from Noho’s Hawaiian Cafe) with a side of their AMAZING macaroni salad. Desert would be a tossup between my Grandma’s rhubarb pie and cheesecake. Being as cheesecake will be around my whole life, I’d side with the pie.

Like Heather I’m not sure how they’d roll in the same meal.

That’s sooo cute. I am glad you are spending time with your family. For your question:

Appitizer: mozzerella sticks
Entre: Steak, baked potato, and corn on the cob
Desert: Hot Fudge brownie sundae

Sooo filling and soooo many carbs but soooo yummy. It’s making my mouth water just thinking about it.

hmmm… soup, grilled shrimp teryaki and rice balls, pocky and ice cream. I was thinking about being at a japanese steakhouse.
that is one awesome kids kitchen, wish I had one when I was that age. mostly made fake dinner out of play-doh back in the day. there was always one friend who actually took a bite… eww!

good luck with that house-wife thing tho.

Appetizer: Damon’s Southwest Firecrackers (www.damons.com)

Entree: The toughest call for me, but I think I’ll go with Thanksgiving turkey, white meat with whole cranberry sauce

Dessert: Cheesecake. Cherry or blueberry topping. Or plain. Oreo cheesecake’s nice, too. I had a nice pumpkin cheesecake once. Yeah, I’m going with cheesecake…

Thanks for making me laugh, Vicky! Glad that you’ve had a great trip so far, and I’ll be praying that the rest of is is even better. Oh, and that’s pretty sweet that you got featured on the MONOlog!

Boy, the three course question is a tough one for me; I love variety, so if I had to eat too much of anything I’d probably get sick of it pretty quickly… :o) Honestly, I’m sitting here thinking about it, and no particular thing is jumping out to me for any of those three categories. I’ll just have to pick something. I’m gonna go for American cuisine more or less. In another mood, I might pick Asian or Central American or something else. Hmmm… gotta focus. Let’s see…

Appetizer: Deep-fried (and battered) mushrooms. There used to be a little Dutch restaurant in Zeeland, MI that made these things so well, you could just eat them all day! We went there to celebrate my mom’s parent’s 50th wedding anniversary, and I still remember those mushrooms like it was yesterday… :o) Another possibility that comes to mind are some of those really great Spanish tapas, but I don’t know any particular names…

Entree: Grandma Burt’s “City Chicken” (actually a combination of a couple of meats on long wooden skewers in a really great gravy served over riced potatoes) or Mom’s “Party Chicken” served over brown and wild rice.

Dessert: Probably strawberry shortcake or some kind of crisp or cobbler, like maybe blueberry or peach, but then again, a really good key lime pie or a cheese cake…

Wow, I’m hungry now! :o)

hmmm…tricky vicks! but i think that 1st course would be brie and cranberries, 2nd course probably a lasagne or something of that sort, and pudding would have to be my mums pear and chocolate chip crumble!
glad youre having fun in england! it is a fun place! so is it spring harvest youre at? was trying to get up, but cant get time of work :( its not far from me you see!
i’ll be praying sweetpea, and i know god will be right next to you the whole time :)

Appetizer: salad with brie, walnuts and honey

main: my lasagna, richly filled and XXL! :)

Dessert: Self made banana-coconut-pineapple smoothie

I love the things kids come up with when they play. I know I learned a lot about my parenting when my daughter started to play house! What insight.
To the FOOD!
Appetizer: Onion Loaf yum!
Main: This one is really hard! What I rally love is really good ribs with really good bbq sauce, french fries, and a chocolate milksake!
Dessert: This one is easy. My grandmothers creme de minth cake. She made a white cake mix with 4 Tbspns creme de minth, topped it with hot fudge sauce, and topped that with cool whip with 2 Tblspns of creme de minth added in. It is true comfort food especially when I eat a piece sitting in her lazy boy rocker that is now im my living room. Sorry got a little sentimental there.

Dessert: finish off previously mentioned french fries and dream about Mountain Mudslide ice cream sundae from Red Robin since I’m too full to actually eat it.
