Yes we are called to forgive but nowhere in the word, does it say we are to condone or excuse sin, and nowhere have I seen in the media that this song was based on God's delivering the author of his addiction to pornography, or that he was just too ashamed to say what he was healed from. He was ashamed he got caught and told a lie, but he apparently was not healed from anything and to say so when it was not true is worse than a hoax because it gave people the hope they can be healed from cancer with enough faith and God never guaranteed that. God could have delivered him from the pornography addiction and that would have given his testimony some substance even if he lied about what he was delivered from , but apparently being delivered from anything was just not true for him. Back to original comment though…God can take what is meant for evil and turn it into good and for His glory. I pray that this young man will take the words he wrote to heart and let God free Him of the sin illness he does have. It is obvious that his sin issue was making him physically as well as emotionally ill. And yet he could have been delivered from it if he just believed in what he wrote,

In other words, if every Christian act we have done was put off to the side, ignored, or thrown away by God because of our past sins, what would become of us and our 'ministries'? What would become of the unsaved world around us?

Yet, God in His unending mercies and grace continues to use us– in spite of us.

Why then can He not use this song?

Reading through the comments, it boggles my mind that some have a hard time singing a song written by a sinner. I hate to say this, but just in case if we have forgotten, every song ever written and sung has been written and sung by a sinner. The Bible clearly states that ALL have sinned and fallen short of His glory. Yet, we are sinners saved by His most perfect grace.

Is MG any different than the Pastor who preaches from the pulpit on a Sunday morning hours after getting angry at the driver who cut him off on the way to church? Is MG any different than the Worship Leader who leads her congregation into the most glorious of praises with bitterness and unforgiveness from a past deed clinging to her heart.

The only difference between MG and some of us today is that we were able to deal with our sin(s) without the world's attention.

I love “Healer” and will continue to lead it, because God uses it– just like He uses us– to bless others and to give glory to His name.

I am the worship leader at my church. Someone found the video on youtube of his performance and we also watched the video of the background footage. I was truly inspired. I loved this song and I loved why it was written.

Then someone emailed me the news article you posted. I was crushed. I felt betrayed. I was angry that a minister of the gospel (though not faultless) had done this. We immediately told our congregation about what had happened and removed the song from our regiment.

Here's why:
The song is good. It really is. However the song was written to cover up a lie. It in itself was a deception. Every time I hear that song all it reminds me of is how betrayed I and I'm sure God felt. I've forgiven Mike. I hope he makes a strong recovery and I pray that God uses this situation, but I don't feel this song should be used, because of people like me.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I don't think we should encourage people using this song. It has great words and a great message, but what happens when people hear the story? If there's so much turmoil, what do we lose by not using it? God remains our Healer without this song as well.

Just my thoughts.
