Isaac, a little fan of Vicky and U2!

Hey there!

This is my bass players son Isaac. He and I were chatting during a recent drive to a show….

Isaac inspires me to want to retain a childlike sense of wonder about music and the world in general… Later at the show he got his little guitar out and was rockin’ back stage jumping around with a huge smile on his face…

How do you think we retain that sense of child like wonder and joy? How can we guard ourselves from becoming jaded about the beauty, fun and wonder of life?

That is possibly the best short video I’ve ever seen! :o) Who *is* your producer? Those camera angles, the casting, all of it! I really get a sense of motion and space. :o) I always love it when you share a home-produced movie!

And thanks for the laugh too; Isaac is incredibly cute! I couldn’t believe he listed off all the members of U2! Wow. I’ll probably smile about that for days. And I have to admire his taste in music…

I was at a friend’s wedding and reception today, and her little sister (who’s four or five) sat next to me during the photo slide show and gave me a running commentary on everything. I didn’t want it to end!

And now for a response to your great thought-provoking question. I think that one thing to help avoid being jaded is to always expect the best â€“ of people and circumstances. They say a cynic is someone who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing. I want to be someone who always sees beauty and expects to see beauty â€“ in the world around me and in the people I meet and live with. I’d prefer to be surprised when things don’t go well rather than being surprised when they do go well. I hope I always find joy in all the little things, and I think spending time with the little ones helps keep that mindset. :o)

IÂ´d say: look at the little ones. Look at them when they walk on their own for the first time or a kid (and even grown-ups) who gives you a big hug. When a little boy goes back to sleep after having a bad dream even when his parents aren’t with him, or a girl who’s running towards you and wants you to catch her.
Or an 80 year old lady who apreciates it so much when you sit and have a chat with her for a while. To me, things like these are special! Also everything that’s going on in nature: the flowers, the birds, the sea, the sky etc.

I agree with Jonathan in this: enjoy and appreciate the small things in life! That’s my guard! Or should I say: one of them? :)

We run a holiday bible school every summer for our local kids, and seeing them all raising their hands to god in worship and doing the actions to our songs is the best feeling when your up on stage leading them. Their innocene and yet love of God was one of many things that encouraged me when I got baptized!

Wow, I love to see childrens reactions to things that are everyday to us.
I have a 4 year old daughter who constantly is showing me a childs view. My husband sings in a two guy group at coffee shops, churches, etc. and my daugter and I attend every one. At one of the coffee shops when my husband was singing I looked over at my daughter and she had both hands in the air touching palm to palm. I asked her what she was doing. Her reply–”I’m hugging Jesus” Now she does it when she is scared, or tired. I have even started to “hug” Jesus when I need one.
My response would be watch the children, and never underestimate there conection with God. It may not be full of theology, but it is filled with wonder and purity.
May we never loose the wonder of God, or forget that Jesus is very huggable!
