Jon Foreman From Switchfoot Forcibly Removed By Police

I like Jon Foreman and all but I don’t understand why he didn’t leave when asked…

I’m a fan too but he should have left when asked. You don’t ignore and take a patronizing attitude with a police officer who’s telling you to do something. It’s called respect.

Also, it’s great that he loves his fans and wanted to play for them but acting like that probably wasn’t the greatest witness to that officer, IMHO.

he was trying to make his fans happy and try to get that time for them, I dont think he understood about the one more song thing. I think he handled it well the officer could of simply said he couldnt play there instead of coming on so strong. fisher should of been happy that people were coming together so peacefully and loving isnt that what we want in this world? more people like Jon bringing people together. I do understand he was doing his job but he could of handled it better or just worried about the people out somewhere else causing trouble. Jons the sweetest guy in the world.

Well as you see in the video, after the song, a guy (Andy Barron, their tour photographer) comes up to Jon and whispers something in his ear. He told Jon that he could play one more song, so that was Jon’s understanding. And I think that’s what he was trying to communicate to the officer, trying to let him know that he had never talked to him, and therefore, didn’t know that the officer didn’t want Jon to play any more.

I’m disappointed in Mr. Foreman’s handling of the situation. Right or wrong, for whatever reasons, when the police say, “it’s over,” then it’s over. It is not for us to judge their motives, then obey or not according to our own findings.

As followers of Christ, we are to be examples of obedience. Hebrews 13:17 says “Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that [is] unprofitable for you.” (KJV) Being obedient does not mean challenging, negotiating, cajoling, begging, or deal making. We are to respect authority, and this was not an example of respect. Being Christians does not give us a pass, or make us exceptions to the rules.

I do give props to Mr. Foreman in that he did not get belligerent or violent. I didn’t sense that he was intentionally being rebellious or showing contempt toward the authority of the officer.

Skillet and their music is a blessing, and hope the unreached will look past this situation and hear the message of love and salvation they have to share.

I had never really heard of Switchfoot till today and I like there song “I Dare You To Move” , but I was a bit disappointed in them when I watched a live version of them singing this song on David Letterman.  I guess you just gave in to pressure when you decided to remove that one lyric eh guys?  Just remember your gift for music comes from.  You should keep “Salvation” in your song.
