Little Dogs Rock….

Hey guys,

So today is my last day in Kansas City… I’m heading back to California. I’ll sure miss this little dog… her name is Gaia and she belongs to my friend Shelley in KC. One of my long term dreams is to have a little dog of my own! But all my flying and travelling wouldn’t really be fair on a dog… so someday when I’m older maybe I’ll get one!

In the meantime, I’ve loved hanging out with Gaia! Shelley and I gave her a bath (which she didn’t enjoy much..here’s a rather ‘pscho dog’ photo as her eyes look a bit scary!)

And one of her afterwards looking extra fluffy and clean!

So… all you pet lovers out there… What kind of pet do you have and why do you love it?

I grew up with 4 black and white cats, in England. My Dad is in charge of locking and unlocking the old 12th Century church two doors down from our house. Each morning and evening as he left the house he would shake the ring of heavy weight old fashioned iron keys and the cats would know it was time for their little walk. They would follow my Dad in order (most dominant charactered cat first) and walk behind him all the way to the church and all the way back! For real! It was such a cute sight :-)

As you can tell I think animals are awesome… And you can tell a lot about people by their pets… so tell me about yours….

Happy 2009!

I have two dogs. Princess is Labador-Collie mix she loves to swim, jump at bubbles, and chase a shone flashlight. Kaydi is a pug and jack russel mix she likes to sing, snuggle, and eat things she is not supposed to eat like chocolate.

  • We just got a puppy a couple of months ago that looks a lot like Gaia! It's a shitzu/ bishon poodle cross. What kind of dog is Gaia? We have been married fifteen years and it's our first pet. We were waiting for the right time too... We had jobs that keep us away from home too much for a dog and then were busy and tired from having kids, so now seemed like the right time. Our dog's name is Biscuit and he's sooo cute and fun!

  • I have two dogs. 1 is a white Yorkie-Poo and the second is a black Yorkie-Peeka-Poo. My wife and I wanted to get a dog, but I was not about to get some little ankle biter. Ya know? I'm a man and I want a big dog. lol. Luckily my wife talked me into going to see this little puppy. From the very get go, he was the most amazing pet I have ever seen. He jumped (well hobbled - he was 8 weeks old) onto my lap and just laid down with his head on my hand. I was sold.

yorkie-poos are the best snugglers/lovers on the planet. They don't shed (praise God) and the don't yap. They just want to be close to you and will do any trick to get a treat.

Just my two cents; if you want a small dog, get a yorki-poo.

    Happy 2009!

I've seen a movie once where someone said that when you wanna have a pet, you have to be able to keep plants and flowers alive first. I have 3 plants right now which survived the past 6 months, so maybe some day... :-P

Several times a week I walk along with 2 friends when they're letting their little doggies out and I really like these doggies, and animals in general, but I'm still not sure about getting one myself. When I was a kid we had cats, hamsters, a rabbit and even 2 small turtles (not all at the same time btw:) but they all belonged to my siblings...

    Well, never say never!
  • My dog looks much like that one! Her name is misty and she's a shihtzu-poodle mix. I love her because she is so good and not an annoying little dog.

  • What a fun post!

Growing up, we had dogs large and small, cats, rabbits, gerbils, fish, etc. Once out on my own, I've never had any pets because I've never had the time. Right now, my parents have a dog named Shadow, and one of my sisters has a cat that gets called by any number of nicknames. I really enjoy being around animals and think it's great (maybe even important) for kids to grow up around them. I probably won't have pets of my own again though until sometime after I've got kids of my own as well.

    Hi Vicky!

When I was growing up, we had dogs and cats on our farm. I do not have any pets now. I really like dogs and perhaps one day will have one. On the farm we had mostly collies. I remember the last collie we had was really beautiful. She was named Lassie. She lived outside in her little doghouse and enjoyed chasing the cows and barking!!! Lassie liked everyone, even the cats! She shared her doghouse with one of the cats. Lassie liked to be petted and she would come close to me and growl when she wanted to be petted. Lassie enjoyed going for walks in our bush and bringing the cows home from the field. I miss Lassie! Big dogs rock too!
  • I've always wanted a black and white cat called Jess and a golden retriever dog called Rosie or Gromit.
  • Hey Vicky,

I don't have a pet, but just like you I would like to have one. Currently I'm a student and I have my own apartment, but I often go a weekend to my mum or dad, so it wouldn't be fair to a pet. I want to have a cat. I have really good memories of them. At home we used to have cat, but he ran away a long time ago. When my parents divorced, my father took a cat, but he ran away also. But when the cats were around it was great. And it's not so much work as with dogs. I love dogs, but I wouldn't take one.
