Live on BBC Television..

Hi friends!

One of my songs “The Wonder of The Cross” was broadcasted on BBC TV last week – on May 31st 2009.

Exciting! : )

I wrote that song for my Grandparents, as a tribute to them….they love hymns, so I wanted to write one for them :-) It’s great to see other people using it too. As post modern people we often get excited about something, then move onto something else when the initial enthusiasm grows dim. We love the latest Starbucks drink…then after a few weeks we want to try a new one. Or we get a new CD, wear it out, then buy another.

How do we avoid losing the sense of wonder and amazement about what Jesus did for us on the cross? “Familiarity breeds contempt”, or so they say! How do we avoid time and familiarity taking away it’s impact – when we ‘ve heard the story a thousand times, how do we make sure we are still able to hear it like for the first time?

Love,

Vicky

I think in this case familiarity breeds freshness. Or rather relationship breeds freshness. God is so big, and who he is is so deep– day and night angels around his throne are saying “holy holy holy is the Lord God Almighty”– they who've been worshipping God forever still are continually catching new revelations of who he is and how great he is.
I think the key to keeping that freshness and not losing the wonder is consistent, every day personal one on one time with Jesus. Not just read a verse and a sing a song (though that's great to do!) but just sitting and having a conversation with him. What a gift that we have that opportunity to talk to him like that!

    That's awesome!!!!

I love you sister! I thank God for you…you are truly the apple of His eyes and I mean it. I am currently singing out to Him with you, “…I am needing You as I offer up this fragile song–in my weakness, You are strong…” I am truly blessed by Him and know I cannot live without Him. We are currently going through Revelation on Sundays, being reminded about returning to our first love. I truly pray for that…that we would continue to treasure every moment with the Lover of our souls. He is everything…I pray to be taught how to love Him fully, love/have compassion on others the way He desires…be His fragrance. I realize I cannot stand/walk on my own…and grateful He is the only one strong enough for me to lean on. God bless and keep using you for His awesome glory!!!!

it's a deep song and resonates with the fervor of your grandpa's love of hymns I'm sure.
I think the power of memory is a key component to not losing the wonder of the cross… the Israelites constant stopping to tell the whole story… using every occasion as a marker to then re-tell what had gone on to get them there… perhaps there is something for us in that tradition… I'm always moving forward – but this is what has gone before! Keep writing.. you offer the church a rich, beautiful fragrant offering. Love it.

    Vicky Beeching,
You truly are an inspiration and a great song writter. Your lyrics are full of God breathed life and intellegence. I only hope one day to be able to put to words the love of Christ I feel in my heart, but for now I'll be satisfied praising our Saviour through your wonderful songs.

    God Bless.

at my church we just went through a study on Song of Solomon, the pastor was talking about building intimacy in marriage, but I think married and singles alike can learn so much from SoS about building intimacy with Christ. answering questions like “so I've been a chirstian for 3 years now, how in the world am I supposed to keep this going for the next 70?” which is basically what we're talking about here, it's this idea of keeping your relationship with christ alive, and not letting it be like a dead marriage.

    Vicky,

This song is very impacting. And this video so insightful. The Holy Spirit is so, very much active throughout the world, and His kingdom people — the church — prevails! As a teen I grew up on a steady diet of “doomsday” prophecy and how the church is all but dead in Europe, and how the U.S. would soon follow.

This video proves otherwise. That even in the midst of the shifting sand of history and the so-called culture wars, the promise of Jesus stands: “The gates of hades will not prevail against the church.” God bless you, Vicky as you become an instrument of the precious Holy Spirit to brin the Presence of God through worship.
