The best gift I have ever received would have to be all the donations that very kind (and VERY generous) people gave to me to help pay for my trip to Zimbabwe, Africa this summer. I knew that it was something God had called me to, but I was overwhelmed by the $3850 I would need to go. Because of these people's faith and donations, I have raised enough money to go. :) While I have 90 days until I leave, I know that the gifts given to allow me to go are going to be worth it. Not just for me, but for all the little ones I will be helping while I'm there.

the best gift I ever got was a Taylor K-14ce acoustic. It was about 5 yrs ago - I had been leading worship in my church for a few years and just had a crappy old guitar that was more hassle than it's worth (never in tune, breaking strings all the time, etc). I was only 23, newly married, and had no money. Some really nice people in my church knew of my need for a new guitar and they all got together and gave me a certificate that read "this certificate entitles Phil to any Taylor of his choice" I was blown away!!! And it's still the best guitar I could ever imagine having!

btw - I love the fact that you're using the Valve Jr.!!! I think they're the best kept secret when it comes to amps - you can't beat the price...especially considering the great tube tone. I just recently got the Bitmo Trio mod for my Valve Jr. and it has improved it 10 fold - I highly recommend it. It gives you a 3 way switch as well as a gain/tone knob. $40 for the mod kit, and about $30 to have it installed. Totally worth it.

Wow, that's awesome!!! Love how you set up those shots too; especially the ones on the amp!

As to the best gift I've gotten recently, I'm not sure. I did get some great gifts for Christmas. Some good books and music, an electric kettle, and a few other cool things. When I was thinking about that question though, I realized that time spent means a whole lot more to me than getting more stuff. Like many people in America, I've got way more than I need anyway. Also, the more stuff you have, the more things you've got to spend time and energy taking care of!

I don't really feel like I answered the question though, so I'll keep thinking about it and let you know if I come up with something better... :o)

found really awesome passage in scripture related to giving 2 Corinthians 9:10-15
10He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which(S) through us will produce thanksgiving to God. 12For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God. 13By their approval of this service, they will glorify God because of your submission flowing from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others, 14while they long for you and pray for you, because of the surpassing grace of God upon you. 15 Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!

Nathan

That's a cool gift!

To me, every hug from my family, a friend or one of the children I babysit feels like a great gift. Perhaps this sounds cliché but really, it is not. You see, there was a time, years even, that I didn't like being hugged. Even a hand on my arm or an arm around my shoulders felt pretty uncomfortable. And I didn't like to hug or touch the other very much either. But now, I thank God every day that has changed!! So, that's why every hug is special to me.

About the in ear colors, I was going to say one of the blue ones (but that is because it's my favorite color:) or the neon yellow one, which looks cool too. But I think I'll go with Nathan Arnold's idea!

Have a great week!

Hmmm... best gift ever is a tossup. Last year for my birthday I was given my Macbook Pro. The friends that gave it to me believed in my calling and gifting as a worship leader and song writer and wanted me to have a good creative platform to work with. I hope I don't let them down. : )

The other was wheels and tires for my truck for my 21st birthday. I had been saving for them for months but my truck kept breaking down and soaking up all my money. My parents bought them for me (and got up on 3 in the morning to give them to me when I got off work).

Was going to respond to your tweet about in ear colors, then I remembered you wouldn't see it. So I'll say... you should get the blue or white ones and have some little Union Jack's painted on them.
