Photos from Pasadena Worship Night

Hey!

Hope your week is going well. I’ve had a great week so far… started it Sunday night at Pasadena Calvary Chapel, up near LA. Took a brilliant team of musicians up there with me:

(From left to right: Beejay Backlawski (backing vocals), Justin Glasco (drums), me, Scott Murray (electric guitar), Aaron Meroniuk (keyboards) and Jon Murray (bass). Fun times!

Here’s some more shots from the night. Thanks to Jon Duran for his camera skills! I played with the shots in Photoshop so any weird editing is my fault and not Jon’s! I’m still trying to figure out photo editing!

Yesterday I filmed a show at TBN Studios for their young adult channel JCTV. Photos from that to follow soon.

Question for you… I want to start posting short teaching video blog on here… Time to dust off my Oxford Theology Degree and dive deeper into conversation with you all on here…You guys are so smart and have so much to share that I want to step up the content here. I’ll always post fun videos and photos too, but my desire for 2009 is to go a few notches deeper and start really pursuing God together on here.

So… what would you like me to teach on in these short 5 minute teaching vid-blogs? think it over as you look through the rest of the photos, then shoot me a comment below and let me know what topics would be interesting to you!

Keep seeking Him!

Vicky

hey Vicky, your pictures are really good :)
the idea about posting videos is a good one! one thing I've been thinking about a lot lately is who am i? i know it sounds like a basic question but I'm finding it hard to answer! i heard a teaching the other day about this and its got me thinking. basically the guy said that when it says in the bible that we shouldn't make any other idols, is it because we are actually God's idols? he said that we are made in the image of God, a representation of who God is, so are we God's idols? we are image bearers but is that the same as idol? before the fall we were made perfect and in God's image. were we divine? or are we in some way, still divine now?
I just got really confused by it because I'm not a theology buff but would love to know what do you think?
The guy who spoke is called Crispin Fletcher-Louis who is director of the Westminster Theological Centre and speaks at New Wine. Our church went on a weekend away to Newquay, Devon and he spoke. Check him out, maybe you could even explain some stuff to me!
    love Lucy xx

    Hey Vickey,
I just found out about you and I love your song "Captivated". It is so beautiful. You've got a new fan! =)
I think it's great that you want to go deeper in this blog. I'm going to be following it. I know that personally I am encouraged by people's stories of God's faithfulness to them. I would love to hear your testimony and what God's been doing or showing you in your life. Just a thought...
    Keep following God :)

Hi Vicky, I’ve been following your blog and I’m looking forward to your teaching videos! Your posts are always encouraging me in my faith-thank you for sharing! I’d love to extensively study the person of Christ–what the Old and New Testament specifically say about Him and how it confirms our relationship with Him as our Savior and Lord. I got this desire recently in another bible study when we stumbled upon the question: “What does the term ‘The Son of Man’ really mean?” I’ve read it many times in the Bible but never understood it or questioned it.

    Cheers

    Vicky,

Nice pics, as for teaching topics what does bible picture true community from the the church in the book of Acts. Its encouraging to see your desire to dig deep in the God's Word and challenge the body of Christ. My small group is doing some of the same stuff with a new ministry regards to studying the various Christian books, bible studies and pastors messages to encourage the people at the church that I attend to grow in their walk with the Lord.

    In Christ,

    Nathan
  • Yikes... today *I'm* the one that can't sleep. I certainly could use a bit at this point!

Anyway, I love the photos; thanks for posting them! And really nice job on the edits too.

So far as teaching goes, I think that's a great idea. Of course the question of what to teach about has a lot to do with what you want to accomplish. You said, "pursuing God together." I think some topics related to the nature of God would do well toward that goal.

I've been thinking about this for the last day or two since you made this post and haven't come up with any specific questions for you yet. I'll keep thinking though. I do like Richard's idea of adding an "ask Vicky" capability or section to the blog. It wouldn't have to be limited to theological questions, and you could obviously pick and choose how many and which ones you answer. Of course, on the other hand, it could end up being too much of a distraction from what you'd like to focus on...
  • Hi Vicky!

I am a fellow theology student too. Here are a few ideas that I like to do hope this helps:
    1) Word studies.... look at the Greek & Hebrew
ie Greek words for love: storge, philia, eros, &agape

    2) mini sermons - take a passage of scripture and exegete it OR talk about life experiences and what scriptures have helped you get through it.

    3) Talk about the " HARD "Philosophical questions that people have:
    1) Why does God allow suffering?
    2) How can a loving God send people to hell?
    3) Where is God in the midst of tragedy?

If you really want to be creative you could always have an "ASK VICKI" section where you can answer the questions that people submit.

  • Would love to feature your video teaching on the All About Worship site. Let me know if that would be okay. Thanks!
  • jon duran
    Cool pics! ;)
  • I miss Scotty.. he's freakin talented and easy to photograph (hint hint). Him and the guitar.. instant worship time for me.
  • How about teaching on the difference between traditional and performance based worship... if there is one.

I'm sure a lot of people would like to hear about your experiences as a female worship leader in the Church.
  • umm what about teaching...God's grace...it's really broad but alot of things I've been encountering is how many Christians are testing God's grace...to see how much they can get away with instead of what we can do to serve Him!

    Just a thought! :)
  • Sweet pictures. Are you playing a White Falcon??
