Songwriting…..

photo

This is a picture of me writing songs in the early hours of the morning this past week… A friend of mine snapped it with her iPhone. I love the grainy-ness and the moment that she captured. I was feeling pretty inspired at that moment and I’m loving the new things I am writing!

Do any of you guys feel more creative late at night? When is your best time to write songs, paint, write poetry, or whatever your creative outlet is?

Love,

Vicky : )

    Cool pic!

I'm not very creative, at least not with things like writing or music or something, but I love being up late!

    Have a great weekend!

Wow, that's an awesome picture! Are you the one who Photoshopped it? Whoever it was, I love it!

I do tend to be a night owl, but I'm not sure if that's due more to my creative nature or maybe it's just something I picked up by being part of my family – we're pretty much all night owls (except for Mom). Actually, now that I think about it, we're pretty much all creative too, Mom included.

Best creative time for me? When I'm supposed to be doing something else! There's something perverse in my nature that seems to get the most ideas and creative output when I don't really have the time to develop them right then. But of course – to some degree, you do have to strike when the iron is hot. Argh! :o )

    Vicky,

Great picture to have memory of the moment writing has retro feel to it. Moments when feel inspired to do creative normally at night for me always been a light sleeper. Can get an idea from reading a book, watching movie, music, things on my mind.

Totally with you on being more creative at night. In fact, most of the times I read your late night tweets I'm up working on something as well. Interestingly most of my ideas come in the morning, but they have to steep for a while before their ready, usually after 11 pm. Always annoying for an apartment dweller as I have to be quiet when I'm trying out new melodies and guitar parts.

Just the other night I got into bed and picked up my writing journal. Before I knew it I had almost a complete song and it was 1.30am. Felt good – but the morning came too quickly!

I find myself to be more creative late at night. I'm definitely a night person. Also, I find myself being creative when I'm home alone during the day, which rarely happens since my wife and I have two toddler boys.

I enjoy songwriting, blogging, podcasting, and tweeting.

Oh… another creative time for me is during or just after physical activity. Guess that gets the blood pumping to the brain!

I like to craft during the day (CRAFTERS UNITE!!!), but when it comes to writing music I usually cant sleep until I write down whats going around my head.

Sometimes I will wake up and have an incredible sense of inspiration. If I go back to sleep, it's always “gone” in the morning. On rare occasions, I will get up and go into another room and scribble things down. I have come up with a few decent ideas that way. Currently, I feel that I have some creative stuff, but it is not coming out…it's brewing below the surface.

    Vicky,
I don't have a set time. lol I have written many songs on my lunch hour's at my 9-5 job. Sometimes though, the mornings have been an inspiring time.

    Blessing's to you,
