So… this weekend is Easter. Easter signifies so much… the death of Jesus and his powerful resurrection. It reminds us that we each get a fresh start and that our slate is wiped clean. It’s a season that reminds us of the DEEP LOVE that took Jesus to the cross, as he gladly gave his life for each one of us.
As worshipers and worship leaders, how are you approaching Easter this year? If you are a song selector, feel free to share your set list, or ideas you have incorporated into the service planning. If you are a worshiper in the congregation, what does this Easter weekend hold for you – where will you be going to church and what are you hoping for? What does Easter mean to all of us?
For me, I love the reminder that Jesus came and walked on the same earth that we walk upon. That he looked up and saw the same stars, breathed in and out the same air. He watched the same sun rise and set. Somehow remembering all that makes Him feel much closer to me. Easter for me is a reminder that Jesus walked on this Earth, gave his life on a wooden cross, then came back to life and under our same sky, the resurrected Jesus showed himself to his followers. I love how real it all is, set in the surroundings of our very own planet. This isn’t a distant gospel, or a removed event…it happened on our planet. And He is as close to us today as we choose to let him be! Let Easter be a reminder that Jesus is right by your side.
When I lead worship for Easter services I love singing about the cross – it reminds me that I don’t sing about it enough all year! I’ll be using my song “The Wonder Of The Cross” this weekend in Bluffton SC for their 5 Easter services. I’ll close out each service with Brenton Brown’s “Everlasting God” because the resuurection is a reminder that ’strength will rise when we wait upon the Lord’. Just as he rose again, he lifts us up on wings like eagles when we trust him ![]()
So… share below about what Easter means to you!
Love
Vicky
