Take a Deep Breath and…rest!

Hey friends!

Greetings from San Diego! The ocean views, surf culture, and sweetness of the people here is like taking a much needed deep breath in and finding a rest and relaxation that I haven’t felt in a really long time… : )

I spent most of today at a really cool, artsy, coffee house that sits right opposite the beach… Reminded me of “Fido Cafe” in Nashville but with the ocean sparkling in the background! Perfect!

Tomorrow night is the first church service I’ll be leading worship at, then there are 3 Sunday morning and one Sunday night. I can’t wait… Tomorrow we have rehearsal for the band… and hopefully another visit to the beach too! There is an event on Moonlight Beach just down the road from here, where Switchfoot raise money each year for a local charity… check it out… I’m hoping to go to some of it tomorrow..

OHHHHH! The last time I had my toes in the ocean was in December 1997. I was in Jamaica at an all inclusive resort. It was so wonderfull. There is something so calming and restoring about the ocean. Enjoy it! Let God’s beauty overwhelm you.

Well I walked in the sea in Marseille France in february however it was freezing but properly in the sea…. bodyboarding in Cornwall October!!!

I think the last time I had my toes in the ocean was the summer of 2007, right after coming back from a missions trip to Mexico. We stopped at South Padre Island and it was very, very clean. Hopefully I’ll be hitting the beach a few more times this summer!

I’m glad to hear that you got some rest. Hopefully you won’t burn out any time soon. :P I just hope you never take a break from Jesus… because we never need a break from Jesus. God bless.

Last time I put my toes in the ocean was at our beach retreat about a month ago. It was amazingly beautiful for a May day in Washington. I’m only a few hours from the ocean, so it happens with regularity. Not the good weather, but the ocean part.

Ah, Currumbin, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, November 2005. My brother lives in Brisbane and took me for a surfing lesson, bliss! One week later I was back in England in the freezing cold, brrrr!

Mmm, I can’t remember.
I think I’ve mentioned it before, but I’m allergic to water (crazy ah?) so although I’m in remission right now, I’d go nuts if I had water in my feet.
I do remember the feeling though. Delicious.

I know I’m partial but I grew up with Mexican beaches around, so I’m used to the water being warm… US waters aren’t often so warm… brrr!

Yay! I just happened to look at your blog this morning and you are in San Diego!!! That’s great! What area are you in?

I am actually in Croatia with my close friend Stefanie (I think you met her a couple of times in SD). She is living here for missions right now.

Yesterday, we were in the Adriatic Sea on one of those paddle boats with a slide on it. Have you ever seen one of those? I hadn’t and it was seriously hilarious, but extraordinarily FUN! You basically just paddle this slide around the sea and then partake of the joys of sliding whenever you feel led.:)

Say hi to the Pacific for me! After I get back from Croatia I will be in Nashville for a couple of weeks and then we will be in San Diego for a few weeks- can’t wait!

I am going to stay with a friend in London for a day before I come back to TN so I will give it a shout for you! We are switching places! :)

Did you go to La Jolla and see the seals?! Wow, that place is beee-yooot-iful!! There’s a great little seafood restaurant there that overlooks the Pacific – perfect to relax with friends! Enjoy SD – I had 10 great months there! Lots of love, Gx

Just got back home from a weekend at the Red Sea, so it would have been this morning that I was last paddling about in sand and saltwater. Amazing refreshing weekend in idyllic beauty, peaceful, calm and soul-filling.

Oh, this is sad. It was over two and a half years ago when I last had my toes in the ocean … I was in Cadiz, Spain. That was great; just way too long ago!

Last weekend I had my toes in Lake Michigan, but – though you can’t see the other side – it still doesn’t count as an ocean. We had a really nice bonfire on the beautiful beach though!

I love San Diego, and I am only 5 hours from there.. Last summer I spent a week in San Diego/Oceanside are with my 2 daughters. What a great time we had there, going to the beaches,Sea World, etc.. Its a great town! Old Town San Diego is a fun place to eat and shop, etc as well!!

Hey Vicky, cool you’re taking a break, enjoy it! Catch some waves for me ;) I just came back from a week in London. It was awesome there and to my surprise very nice weather as well. Sunny days!!

My feet could have been in the ocean last Christmas while I was in Portstewart, Northern Ireland visiting my brother. But it was winter and I’m not that crazy…

Oh and I couldn’t comment on the previous blog but as I have posted before, I did some freelancing as a photographer which (most of the times) means I’d rather be behind the camera than in front of it. And yeah I still dream about making my own movie one day. Have to think of a good story though.
