The Jeep Is Sick!
Hi Blog friends,
On my way home from a great writing day at EMI, suddenly a red light came on in my dashboard and my Jeep decided to stop functioning…Nooooo! Thankfully I wasnt in any danger as the traffic was moving really slow and I could easily pull off into a side street and park.
After a long wait for a tow truck, I am eventually home safe. The garage will call tomorrow and let me know what the diagnosis is.
Here is a snapshot I took on my iPhone as they towed it away… I feel like I have a kid in the hospital overnight…hope my little vehicle is OK, wherever she is tonight…sniff..sniff : )

: ( I’m sorry. Been there before more times than I care to remember. Hopefully it’s under warranty? If not, don’t let those mechanics put one over on you. My cousin and uncle are awesome (honest) mechanics with and have their own business. Too far to work on your car, but not to far to give advice if need be.
This is where all us blokes get into a great discussion about what the problem might be. Could be electrical – maybe the alternator or coil. What if it’s fuel – nope, there would have been no red light. How about oil starvation? Possible but, seriously, let’s hope your engine is not seized. Could have been out of water, but you would have noticed clouds of steam, It’s probably electrical or some stupid ECU fault. Let us know what happens.
When I first glanced at that picture, I was sure there was a large, fast-moving train going in your direction. Then I stared at it for a minute and realized it was likely a slow tow truck moving away from you. But I was still nervous for a second.
Oh sadness!!! Hope your jeep turns out alright! Let me know if you need a lift to anywhere during the first half of next week… I’ll be in the area for for a few days around LifeWork 2.0. (Yea!)
) …although by the twitpic you sent yesterday, it looks like you’re quite a capable hitchhiker, and I’m sure you have plenty of friends around Nashville who’d be glad to give you a ride. In any case, I hope you’ve got your vehicle back well before then!
Thanks for the advice guys!
The Garage called. It was the ‘crank shaft position sensor’ that broke; tells engine how much fuel 2 inject apparently! They are repairing it now. Not too bad…just over $200 so way less than I was worrying about! God is good : )
Oh, that’s great news! Sounds like they’ll have you back on the road in no time…
…when I saw the title of this post, I knew what you were talking about because of your earlier tweets; however, I couldn’t help but chuckle that it could be taken for slang to mean that the Jeep is super-cool.
)
That would do it. The sensor controls the timing, how everything works together. If it’s broken your spark plugs won’t ignite at the right time. Glad it was something small.
I feel you…
Same type of thing happened to me this weekend. Traveling to Michigan to help lead worship…and boom. Radiator explodes!
Glad it isn’t going to be a huge problem – hope it all gets back to normal soon!
