The Wisdom Teeth Adventure….

Here is a photo I just snapped using PhotoBooth… for some reason my cheeks look like a cross betweem a chipmunk and a garden gnome as they are swollen and very pink! Oh well… all part of the recovery process I guess… Not a flattering shot, but I want to let you see what really goes on in my life, so I guess this is just transparency!

The oral surgeon was so kind yesterday. I brought them one of my CDs as a gift, and to my suprise they put it on their PA syste, throughout the whole surgery. So I fell asleep under the general anaethetic to the sounds of Painting The Invisible! I know the surgery was about 40 mins as I faded out on Great Is The Glory, and came back round on Twenty Six summers!

Vicodin painkiller didn’t seem to like me as I got really naseous and dizzy. So I’m trying to make it through just with Ibuprofen and the antibiotics.

I did take some video yesterday (although NOT of the actual surgery of course!…Grossness!) so I’ll upload that when I’m feeling more ‘with it’

Prayer for speedy recovery appreciated!

Hey Vicky,

I feel for ya. I just had mine done a couple of weeks ago – I didn’t get to fade out during the process though – they just numbed me up and started at it.

Will pray for a speedy recovery. I missed two worship services because I couldn’t open my mouth wide enough to sing – hope it’s different with you.

Regarding what to do when bored. I usually just read or hop online and visit all the blogs that I’ve been neglecting.

I hope you’re satisfied now that I’m in pain too – I laughed way too hard about your cheek comment and now my gut aches! I’ll certainly continue to pray for speedy recovery; I’m sure you’ll be back to full strength in no time!

Wish I could say something about the iPhone comment, but though it does very well at what it can do, it just doesn’t do everything that I’d want it to do, so I don’t have one… Maybe once the next hardware revision comes out.

As to bed rest, I like to read if I’m feeling up to it, or watch good movies on DVD/Netflix if I’m not quite up to reading. It’s always nice if you have a good friend or family member that can bring you tea in bed too… :o)

Fee better Vicky. I was out for a while after my wisdom teeth came out.

I just got my I phone last week, and have grown attached to Google Earth, remote, now playing, icanhascheeseburger, and I’m studying japanese for a challenge, so Japanese Flip has been incredible!

And you can’t go wrong with the Zippo Lighter app for concerts, right? ; )

Hi Vicky! Nice picture. =) You can also eat ice cream to help with the swelling.

I don’t have an iPhone right now, but through having friends who do, I enjoy the Guitar Hero app – makes me feel like a rockstar w/o a guitar!

And when I’m sick, sleeping tops my list since it gets me pass feeling “blah”, and I generally wake up feeling better. Watching good comedies also helps.

Aww! Praying for you!!! I had my wisdom teeth out in high school… not fun, but it won’t hurt for too much longer!! Once the swelling goes down you will feel better.

iChalky is always a fave on my iPhone. I also like the Crazy Penguin Catapult!!

Last year I broke a foot and messed up the other ankle and wasn’t able to do anything for a while so I spent my time watching the History Channel, reading every Narnia book, writing letters to old teachers/professors, taking random photos of anything that I could see without getting up, and painting random things with Crayola water colors! :)

Hope you’re feeling some better. Does a cold pack every now and then also help, together with the medicines?

I pretty much do what you have been doing when I am down sick – playing around with something techie, or listening to some music or watching a fav movie. How about an interesting biography?

I feel your pain; I’ve had that surgery before.

So far on my new iPhone I really like the following apps: Google, MotionX GPS (very cool especially if you’re into geocaching), Wikipanion, PhoneFlix (for Netflix), Amazon.com, Flixster, and PenguinLite (the free version of the Penguin Catapult).

We did “Everyone Under The Sun” a little while ago here at Westwinds Church in Michigan. Cool song!

When I had knee surgery a few years back, I passed the time by watching movies, reading magazines, and of course..listening to my favorite music! Now, I also love reading blogs and twitter-ing too!

my cheeks were HUUUUUUUGE when i had my wisdom teeth taken out. then i had dry sockets and it took forever to heal. so i feel your pain.

for passing time, yahtzee and uno on my iPhone are always fun. :)

this doesnt make me feel too excited about getting my wisdom teeth out. I am immune to the powers of vicodin. D: but I’m definately feeling your pain.
when I’m sick I always try to sleep as much of it off as possible.

i had my wisdom teeth out at around 19ish.. i got a square jaw and threw up because of the T3′s they gave me. I stayed away from yougert and other bad ones… rasberries.. any berries, those would get stuck in the holes. then carried around my needle i squirted water into my holes for awhile.. and salt water swished through the teeth… i just like sleep and my bed.. and good movies.. (im a fan of those long jane austen epics)
what was worse, incidently, was chicken pox at 18. i too have a video and am always shocked by how i look. yes they are much worse when you are an adult.

That picture brings back memories. I had my wisdom teeth extracted in 2 waves, top and bottom. The first set was taken out by my dentist when I was 16 and was the worst experience of my life. The novocain didn’t really work all that well and the headphones they had playing the Eagles “Hell Freezes Over” stopped playing.

But that wasn’t the terrible thing. The dentists very attractive daughter (who was my age) stood in on the extraction to learn. So me being the macho 16 year old I didn’t complain about the immense pain I was in or anything because I didn’t want to look like a wuss in front of a girl I’ve never seen since. Guys are idiots.

The second one was another terrible story… but that’s mostly because laughing gas makes me very paranoid.

As for sitting around sick, if you are in to movies you might sign up for NetFlix. You can watch a lot of movies and TV shows right on your computer. (on your Mac make sure to use Firefox so the viewer works right). Plus you get 2 weeks free!

I still have mine and I hope they’ll stay there for a loooong time, cause if all 4 of them have to be extracted I’ll have only twelve molars left to chew with;)

Felt kinda dissapointed though, as I thought that you’d show us the whole surgery or at least a part of it…:-P

It’s been years ago since I felt sick enough to stay in bed, but I remember I loved reading books and watching some tv. I hope I won’t get sick for a while or need bed rest for some reason but if that happens, you’ll find me reading books for sure:) and maybe I’d read blogs, go to youtube or make some crossword puzzles.

i have lots of tips on how to pass the time when your ill! i’m ill at the moment. I sometimes lay in bed and listen to a story tape or i sleep or watch tv! Things such as card making or doing those annoying jobs such as putting thousands of photos in a photo album can be a way to pass the time.
