Welcome to the new VickyBeeching.com!

Hi friends! Hows your week going?

I’m excited that the newly re-designed VickyBeeching.com is here! Instead of running on the program Typepad, it now runs on Wordpress, which has the capacity to do way cooler things with technology including Video Commenting… more on that to come soon!

If you are linked to my Blog, please could you change the address? If you have me in your Blogroll as http://vickybeeching.typepad.com could you change it to http://www.vickybeeching.com Thanks, that makes a huge different to my ‘incoming links’ stats!! : )

Thanks to my friend Biscuet who did all the design work for me! He lives in China as an American teaching English. Check out his site at www.biscuet.com. He has cool video blogs of what its like to live in China, so pop over to his site and check them out!

It was fun to have him work on the Blog as he is on a totally different time zone over there in China. So I’d wake up each day to see more of what he’d been working on during his day, while I’d been fast asleep!

Speaking of different time zones, I saw this sign on the wall of a church I played in recently:

Sometimes church life can feel like a different time zone for me… I’m someone who naturally leans toward staying up late talking and playing guitar…so a 5.45AM bible study seems like it might be invented by Aliens from another planet!! Don’t get me wrong – I often do get up that early for a lot of worship events – but naturally that’s not my preference!

Are you wired to be an early riser, or a late night owl? And with your churches, what’s the earliest you have to be there for any kind of ministry or worship involvement… lets see who wins the “earliest at church” competition!!

Love to you all,

vicky

I loved your music at Mars Hill this morning.....thank you. You are a blessing!

i am a night owl trapped in the body of a mother of three.
i live for chances to stay up all night and talk, dance, play, eat, read or work. i scorched numerous nightgowns as a child, draping them over my lamp to dim that tell tale strip of light under my door...reading all night.
fortunately, our church is small, and when my worship team leads, i let them come at nine. (service at 10)
i am definitely flunking earliest church competition.
my children are not allowed out of their rooms until 8. so there.

  • I'm definately NOT an early riser. I don't think there's any way I could be dedicated enough to go to a bible study at 5:45am. I've led several different ministry related tasks that required me to be available super early in the morning, which was fine because I'm not required to be early on a regular basis.

My church doesn't really do anything before 9:30am or so. We usually aren't on time for anything either. LOL...but it's geniune worship so its all good.

nice new website vb! thats so cool! looks good!
well, im definately and early riser. i've never been very good at sleeping. get to bed late and then wake up early! kind of insomniac i guess! i like to get up early and start the day though. get bored and i hate to think im wasting the day by staying in bed!
church dosnt start til 10.30am so its pretty late really. the earliest i ever have had to get up was 8.30 to be there by 9am for worship practice.
    hope you well hun,
    love lucy x x x
  • New site looks great!

As for early or late... Late for sure. There is rarely a limit to how late I can stay up. I did have a job with Cingular for years that required 4 :30 am wake up calls, but I found myself still staying up until 1 and drinking lots of coffee. I find I'm far more creative at midnight than 7 am.

Early church events stink. I have to be at church at 7 on Sundays... blech. No thanks. Give me a 11 am service.

    Definetely a night owl.
I get sharper, more friendly and more motivated as the day goes along.

I think my best hours are between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. ... well, that's how it was before I had kids!
With two little early risers, I have to force myself to go to bed early or I'll become a jumping gym in the morning.

    :)
I did the whole prayer at 5am thing for a couple of months (over 10 years ago!), it was spiritually reinvigorating but I was SO glad when it was over!
  • Well done on making the shift to wordpress, your lad Biscuit has done a good job transferring it all across.

I'm definitely a late nighter, but unfortunately I have to get up for work every day at 6am. I just end up burning the candle at both ends (and sometimes in the middle too). Not good. It's nearly 1am here and I have to get up in 5 hours.
    D'oh.
  • I am both an early riser and a late night owl. If my body could handle it, I would stay up late and wake up early every day! Since that's not possible, I tend to be a late owl more than an early riser, but I'm trying to change that.

Sunday worship starts around 2pm and Friday night worship starts around 5pm so I have nothing to worry about. :D
  • like the new digs. you are linked.

Hey the new site is great!

You should incorporate Feed Burner for your RSS feed instead of the wordpress feed. It works much better.

I get up early and go to bed late.
  • Great job Biscuet!! Props to that :)
Good to have this integrated in your own website now, looks even more professional!

I'm def a late nighter, love the long night conversations, the darkness and quietness of the night. The creative moments just before you go to bed, the munchies after eleven. And with my current job I still can maintain that lifestyle, I love it :D

Last year I was in a monastery where they had 7 services every day and the first would start at 4:45. That tot me was totally insane :D Although I did try it though... just for one day. I skipped it the rest of the days, haha.

    New site looks great Vicky!

I'm definately a late night 'owl'! I've no problems staying up till 2.00am or 3.00am. I guess that will be over as soon as I have a job...

The earliest service at my church starts 8.45am, I don't mind getting up that early during the summer, but in the winter... So, I like the switch every 2 months as we share the building with our sister-community (not sure if that's the right word, hope you'll understand what I mean :-)
  • Rebecca
yeah I guess I'm unique on that.
  • Rebecca
Hey Vicky I love the now website .
Well to answer your question I usually go to bed early and I'm not an early riser either , so well I guess I might unique on that.
  • I love the new look and layout. I updated your links on my blog and readers.

The only day I get up early is Sundays! But, I love it once I realize the alarm is going off because it is Sunday. I used to have a vocal class in High School at 6 AM daily and a paper route. Those were not good for my wiring. Yikes!
  • emms
well as a teenager I have to say I hate getting up early on weekends! My church starts at 10.00 but 8.45 if its your turn on set up duty...get there early to put the heating on so we don't all freeze to death! My best mate's church havd a sunrise service on the hill on easter morning it sounds fun! I have once been to midnight mass on christmas eve so 12.30pm till 1.30pm does that count as early or late?
    With Love
    xx
  • Yeah! You got it finished! I like it. I'm an early riser... I usually have a few work items completed and a 5 mile walk + gym time finished by 9am. I have enjoyed sleeping in lately... who knows... maybe the circadian rhythms are changing?! Have a great week!
  • Linz
I have no problem getting to church at 6:00, because all through the week I've had to be at work at 4:00a.
  • love the new site...and to answer the post below...never been to england but spent about a month in scotland. mainly in edinburgh but out to glasgow a few times, and of course we made a trip around the highlands! :)
  • Love the new look, and it's got stripes! :o)

I'm definitely a late-night "owl" kinda guy... and while I'm in Seattle, I'm not involved in any regular worship leading. I get to help out sometimes when I'm back in Michigan, but that's often for evening events, so I don't have to get up early then either.
  • Doh! Kat beat me to it - she's such a geek :-)

New site looks great; nice one.

Felicity and me are both late nighters, and it was horrible when our kids started going to school - our mornings were hectic.

I only have to be at church at 8am - not too bad methinks.
  • Love the new site! Yay for Wordpress...
