Youthwork Conference, Eastbourne, UK

I just finished a great weekend, as part of Youthwork Conference, the UK’s biggest youth leader’s gathering. It’s an event under the Spring Harvest umbrella, and it’s one I looks forward to every November!

I led the song “Deliverer” from my latest album, as the theme of the conference was Surrender… God the Deliverer was definitely present, setting us all free and helping us reach a deeper level of surrender to Him…it was an exciting weekend!

Control. I always struggle surrendering control to God, it’s a continual process which deepens over time. It takes time to truly surrender I think, it’s not something you can just do. I think it’s probably a process we’re all on our entire lives, it’s part of what relationship is all about, and it’s an ongoing thing. You have to continually choose to surrender things to God, more and more, and we always have more we need to surrender to Him. Sounds like it was a great conference!

Hey Vicky..
I went to the youth conference at the weekend, and just wanted to say you were amazing. Your worship and encouragement was beyond the point of awesome, and I loved every minute of it.
Me and my mum had a bit of a competition as to who could see you live first. I’m from Herne (I read somewhere you lived in Broomfield? That’s crazy if you did because not even people who live there know where it is) and used to work for a company who had your dad as an accountant, and in our meetings, he would always talk about you (and medieval history, haha) and I never quite twigged who you were. Then, by a total fluke, my mum met your mum and so she has heard alot about you too and all of a sudden, it all became a bit connection-fied. So i beat her in seeing you this weekend.. Hopefully will get to meet you in person at some point.. I appreciate all your tweets and blog entries, and how much you involve normal people like us. Like what you said in the seminar – it’s all about being interactive.
This is a mini essay comment, sorry… Now I’ll answer your question..
This weekend reminded me of the word “surrender” completely. I remember thinking so strongly about it when I first became a Christian, but had sort of forgotten the power of total surrender. I guess for me, it’s about surrendering everything – even down to the small things like giving train times to God’s power (had some very tight changeovers on the way back to Uni yesterday, slightly stressy) and it was amazing just to not feel like I could do something to change the way things were going to go.. Just surrendering all that stuff to God took care of things, and the freedom was mindblowing..

I find that there is always something else I must be giving to God. I do not think that I ever surrender enough to Him.
I’m glad to see that you are on tour again and singing. I’m still praying for you.

The most immediate answers that come to mind are “my dreams” and “my desire to get married one day”!

I’m a biiig dreamer so even at 16, I was making plans to teach English as a missionary or to start my own Christian band (haha), and now at 18 (just before university age, here in Singapore), I actually have the power to choose what to do as my next step in life. It’s terribly exciting, yet I want to make sure I’m not running ahead of God!

As for my dreams of marriage, I often daydream about what it’ll be like to be a wife & mother, but what if marriage isn’t in God’s plan for me? Even though “intellectually” I know it’ll all work out even if it isn’t, emotionally that thought still makes me sad. I don’t quite know how God will bring me to a ‘deeper point of surrender’, but right now it’s just a constant ‘laying down’ :)

I thank God that you’re back on tour. I had seen your pictures and reading the text on your blog.
I’m glad you’ve had a great time last weekend with your Youth Work Conference.
I will keep praying to God for you and all the other people who care so much about God.

For me God is also very important. To God, I lost everything including my great love for God, my mistakes, my sins. I just know in my heart that he says he forgives all sins and mistakes.

I wish you much strength. And I’m sure you have a special place in God’s heart.

Hi Vicky, how are you? amazing pics. Thanks for the chance to see them. God Bless you. I found Vengeful and bitter thoughts and Fear hard to surrender but, the Most High directed me to Proverbs 29 v25 and Isaiah 55 v 7. I praise him for his direction on this and other things and that he opened my eyes that I see wonderful things in his law. fear is now my friend. I see that a great many wonderful things are going to happen for a lot of people soon. I thank God for taking me into partnership with him re puttings things right and for breaking my heart with the things that break his? Theres No one like our God eh Vicky?

My name is Rebecka and I’m from Sweden. This last weekend me and the other youth leaders in our church took part of the FANTASTIC conference in Eastbourne. I loved the worship and songs and wonder if you have a list of the ones you used during Sunday? There was a psalm that you used after the communion and can’t remember the name of it. I would like to use it in our church… Could you or anyone else please help me with that?
