Denmark Rocks!

Hey friends!

Its been a few days since the last post as the “predestination debate” was in such full swing that I thought I’d just leave it up for a long time. I think 43 comments is my all-time highest!

I’m working on a video from my Denmark trip, but in the meantime here are some photos…

I spent my birthday there on July 17th (turning 21 yet again I wish…haha!). Here I am with the Danish flag and the special traditional Danish cake they baked me : )

It was custard and cream and jam… really tasted great!

On my birthday, we took a trip to one of Denmark’s largest towns… the shops, culture and scenery were beautiful!

This is an ice cream store called Paradis that makes the ice cream fresh every morning and then throws it out every night. It was the best chocolate ice cream I’ve ever had! I also tried a taste of the strawberry one, and it was incredible!

This is Daniel and Rikke - my awesome new Danish friends who organized my birthday day-trip! Thanks!!

Here are my rockin’ Danish band…. Jacob Worm on guitar (concert photo: www.MartinGravgaard.dk)

Jacob Lund Paulsen on keyboards (concert photo: www.MartinGravgaard.dk):

Daniel Sidelmann on drums (concert photo: www.MartinGravgaard.dk) :

And of course, Matt Smallbone the awesome Australian who road manages and plays bass for all my concerts! Here he is in his new Danish scarf looking very fashionably European! Matt is also now bass player for Michael W Smith…so congrats to Matt on that! He deserves it! (concert photo: www.MartinGravgaard.dk)

A big thank you to the Promoter and organizer of the whole event and trip - Stephan Winther!

And thanks to Jacob Norby who drove us to and from the different venues and the airport… You rock!

The worship concerts in Denmark were really powerful and I’ll never forget how loud everyone sang! God did great things in all of our hearts…stories about that to follow soon! I came home with great memories and had a wonderful birthday there.

Question for you…. “What was your coolest birthday so far? Why was it such a great memory?”

Love,

Vicky : )

  4. Good shots, Vicky! Thanks for sharing your latest fun in Europe with us!

Best birthday? That’s hard to say; I’ve had lots of good ones. (I’m really rackin’ ‘em up, and they’ve all been so good. ;p) There have been a few of them that I’ve been on vacation with the family at a cottage on a lake, and those were especially nice. Thirty was nice last year; I had a great time with family. Next month I happen to be back in Michigan for 10 days helping with a conference, and I’ll be with family and friends for my 31st (on the 13th). Should be good! :o)

  6. Happy Birthday Vicky!! I told everyone this year that it was my first 29th birthday, but there would be many more!
My very best birthday was the year I turned 13. My doberman Misty had died about a year and a half earlier. That dog was everything to me, and that is no understatement. She was so nurturing and loving, as almost all dobes are, despite there reputation. Well, for that year and a half since she died I had been begging for a dog. In a very annoying way I might add, that if my daugher tried would get her sent to the corner! If I had a bad grade it was “if I had a dog I would have gotten an A” If my room wasn’t clean “It would be if I had a dog.” On and on– I don’t know how they made it through without going crazy, except that they knew how much Misty had meant to me.
A couple of days before my 13th my mom and sister went out to run some errends. When they got back my mom came in and got a couple of towels saying that my sister had thrown up in the car. worried about my sister I followed my mom out. My sister was standing in the driveway with a little cocker mix dog in her arms. I just started crying, and yelling “A DOG–YOU GOT ME A DOG?” I will never forget that moment. I was so happy I couldn’t stand it. Zoey turned out to be a very good dog. By the way it was the dog who was sick in the car not my sister.
Warning to all Blog authors you get me started on animals and I will go on for days!

  9. I think this last birthday has been my best one.. not because it was the most outstanding one, but because it had been a while since I had enjoyed a birthday this much.

I had my birthday at the beginning on the month, so we’re pretty much the same age (we were born on the same year, so I guess I turned 21 too!). I have been in the States for 5 years now, and every time my birthday comes around I have to remind myself I love my husband and that it’s worth it for me to have come to the US. (I don’t know why u.s. people always think that I would of course want to be here, truth be told I much rather live in my own country!)

Birthdays were always a big deal in my family, so I always miss them like crazy.

This last birthday I woke up with sweet God awakenings of the heart, had some friends from the midwest (on their way to Korea to work as missionaries) staying for the weekend, led worship and went to a toddler park. I had a blast.

    Glad to have you back

  10. Well… I have an amazing family so I’ve had several good birthdays. But the best would have had to been my 30th, which was this year.

I was born on the same day as my aunt and so we’ve always been birthday buddies. So this year we had a 90th birthday party with all the family. Just to have them (most of them) all there was just a reminder of how blessed I have been.

Just a side note about birthdays. Why do we get presents on our birthdays? We didn’t do anything. Really, shouldn’t we be giving presents to our parents, especially mom?

  13. Happy Belated Birthday Vicky. I am terribly sorry I have missed it…
By the way… I definitely need the name of that cake… it looks delightful… I would love to surprise the worship team with it at one of our little get togethers.
Best birthday… probably 2006… I am a christmas baby, and for some reason my family just seemed very very close that year. There was alot going on but I have never felt that close to my family, and more than any gift that any of them could have bought… that was the best gift ever. I loved loved loved being able to share that with them.
Thanks for giving me the chance to share and reflect back on such wonderful happiness!!!
    – Sending love and wishing you all of God’s amazing Blessings!!!

  14. Hi Vicky.

    A very belated message.
Thanks so much for coming to Denmark! It was just the best thing about Oase 2008 that you were there. We still talk about you and how great your worship was. The Lord has really blessed you in so many ways and thanks for giving that to us.
I bought your new-ish cd ‘Paiting the invisible’ and I love it! There’s so many great tracks on it and it is really an inspiration.
God luck with you new path in life in San Diego. May God bless you as he has always done.
Thanks again for being an inspiration.

All the best and lots of love,

    Maria (ex-RSF :))
