Fresh New Music from London….
By Vicky Beeching on Jun 19, 2008 in Uncategorized
Hey there friends
Hows your week going? I just finished a show in Cincinnati Ohio and am back at my hotel catching up on emails.
I saw on Facebook a few minutes ago that an old friend of mine is launching a new band “Mumford and Sons” so I found some video of them playing live and was really impressed! Its a really fresh sound and vibe… Marcus is the lead singer and guitar player… I’m so impressed with his songs and sound… Check it out! I know most of you reading the blog are from the States, so here’s a peek into what’s coming out of the London scene…
P.s. I’m inspired to try and learn Banjo after watching that

I’ve got a banjo you can borrow… I stink at it! Bad, bad.

Oh my goodness! Amazing vid! Here is a major link between American folk music and (roots in?) British folk music. This is southern “bluegrass.” I love it! Plus, Marcus plays a Martin guitar. Great taste

Sweet! This is GOOD stuff.
I love bluegrass and very cool that our British friends are modernizing it a bit! Thanks for sharing.

One addendum… didn’t mean to limit the genre to bluegrass. You’d be hard-pressed to find some of the chord/tempo changes and lyrics like “You desire my attention but deny my affections” in any good ‘ol bluegrass number (We Southerners have problems with words like “affections.”) Really creative stuff. Thanks for posting it, Vicky.

Really enjoyed that; thanks for sharing with us! I liked the sound, Marcus’s voice, and the lighting in the video. The line that stuck out to me the most was the “awake my soul.” :o)
